Why AHN Needs Your Help
Access to Healthcare Network created the Patient Care Fund to help people who are working hard every day to help themselves, but who just don’t have enough income or other means of paying for basic needs such as healthcare. Often they have to make the choice between paying for rent, food for their family, or the cost of healthcare or dental services.
The Patient Care Fund was started to help AHN member families who just didn't have enough money to pay for their portion of medical treatment. However, it has now expanded to include funding for specific populations in need, for instance, cancer patients. Cancer can be a very draining disease -- physically, emotionally and financially -- even with the greatly discounted fees that AHN membership provides for care.
Our members are poor and uninsured: a family of four living on $2,000 a month or less; a single parent working two jobs and making just $1,500 a month; or an individual man or woman living on disability payments of $1,000 a month. Their monthly income disappears so quickly to pay for bare necessities. They rely on other services in our community for assistance with food or utilities and they look to AHN to help them obtain healthcare at greatly discounted rates. But some are still unable to pay for their own portion of the care that AHN membership can provide for them.
Our members make too much to qualify for Medicaid, they’re not old enough to qualify for Medicare, and they can’t afford a regular insurance policy. They are uninsured despite their best efforts, and there are hundreds of thousands of them in Nevada alone.

What Your Donation Can Do
One dollar into this fund provides ten to twenty times its value in medical services. Your donation to the Patient Care Fund will be stretched to do so much more than you might ever imagine to help families in need of healthcare services in Nevada:
A $50 donation provides:
* A child an eye exam and a pair of glasses
* Or sends 2 children to a pediatrician.
A $75 donation will help:
* Two women have early breast-cancer-detecting mammograms
A $100 donation can:
* Pay the surgical fees for a woman’s breast biopsy
* Or pay for full dental exams for 3 children
A $500 donation can provide:
* 20 eye exams for adults or children
* Or 12 dental visits for adults or kids
* Or 20 visits to a family doctor or OB/GYN
* Or 2 MRIs to help diagnose serious health problems
