Meet Breast Cancer Fighter, Elisa Tapias.

 #AHNPinkFight

Meet Access Medical member Elisa Tapias, a fighter and warrior battling breast cancer. Elisa opened up with AHN about her story, previous health challenges, and her current fight against breast cancer.

Elisa felt pain under her arm and a little lump—she ignored the signs.
Elisa felt sick and had a very bad hemorrhage that would not stop. She was admitted to the hospital and had an emergency surgery.
In the hospital, tests were done, and she was given the bad news that she had Breast cancer. In the hospital, they could not help her with chemo treatments; her children started looking for resources and came across the Access to Health Care program.

Elisa’s cancer came back for a second time. This time, as soon as she felt the lump in her breast, she acted immediately. Elisa scheduled an appointment with the oncologist, had tests done, and started her treatment.
She wants to share her experience with the community to spread awareness. Elisa said: “If you love yourself and your family, do not ignore the pain. Go see a doctor immediately and get checked; do not ignore it, even if it’s something small”. She is very grateful that she has been able to get treatment and have more time with her family. Once they told her she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, she was devastated; however, she pushed forward for her kids and grandkids.

Access To Healthcare Network has the resources and the ability to help her; because of our program, she gets more time with her family. Access Medical has helped her with consults, testing, and labs; she can afford treatment with our discount. Our program assists with funding and advocates for people to live longer, healthier lives.

Elisa is very grateful that she got help from our program; she did not qualify for insurance, and with our program, she could see the oncologist and get chemo treatments. She is very grateful that this program was created to help the uninsured, the underinsured, and the undocumented community in Nevada. Whenever she comes across a person who needs medical assistance, she recommends our program to them—and for that, Access To Healthcare Network is forever grateful to her.

Elisa sends blessings to everyone who has helped create this fantastic program that helped her when no one else would.
