September is Deaf Awareness Month

NVCC & available resources for you!

September is National Deaf Awareness Month, and we invite you to celebrate, advocate, and share valuable resources for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community!

Nevada Care Connection (NVCC) is our state-established network of aging and disability resource centers. It has been administered by Access to Healthcare Network (AHN) to serve as a single point of entry for assistance with information and resource navigation of long-term support services for older adults, people with disabilities (of any age), family members, and care providers for the following 12 Northern Nevada counties: Washoe, Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing, Storey, and White Pine.

We also provide support services for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing community. We can use the ASL Anywhere app and the UbiDuo machine to communicate better with the Deaf community.

Call today to talk to a resource navigator at 844-826-2086.

We have gathered a few local resources available for you:

American Society for Deaf Children – For more than 50 years, the American Society for Deaf Children has been committed to providing support, encouragement, and information to families raising children who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing.

ASDC recognizes the crucial role families play in the success of children who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing. We affirm that families are capable and willing to guide their children’s lives. Parents have the right and responsibility to participate in decisions regarding their children’s educational and social development.
ASDC supplies the information and support families request to ensure that their decisions and actions are based on up-to-date and accurate knowledge.

The project is a Communication Access Service Center funded by Nevada telephone users through a small monthly surcharge on phone lines in the state (NRS 427A.797).
