Congratulations to our Access Medical Director, Dora Garcia! 

Dora Garcia won the Nevada Cancer Coalition Healthcare Partner of the Year Health Leader award.

The Summit Awards are an annual tradition for the Nevada Cancer Coalition, designed to honor the work of Nevadans in reducing the burden of cancer. Distribution occurs each year at the Nevada Cancer Control Summit, a one-day statewide conference featuring sessions on topics across the cancer spectrum, including prevention, early detection, treatment updates, and survivorship.

The 2023 Summit took place on Sept. 12 in Las Vegas. The 2024 Summit is planned for next September in Reno.

Our Access Medical program has helped 73 uninsured members with cancer treatment within the last year with our participating providers.

“I was unfortunate to have both my parents diagnosed with Cancer and lost one, so this is a personal fight. I had two very different experiences with my parents due to one having insurance and the other not. I don’t want anyone to ever go through this diagnosis feeling like there is no hope due to not having insurance or their inability to pay.

I dedicated my award to the physicians, organizations, and foundations that help the uninsured and underinsured, no matter their ability to pay.” says Dora.
